The Joint Operational Programme Romania-Ukraine 2014-2020 celebrates this year, together with all cooperation programmes, the 10th anniversary of the European Cooperation Day.
2021’s initiative – “Projects without borders. Romania | Ukraine“ – is aimed to raising awareness about the importance of cooperation and the leverage effect of the Union funding to improving the life of people and communities in the territories covered by our programme.
Representatives of the project ”Personalized prevention tools in obesity and diabetes – a joint Romanian-Ukrainian Programme of health education (PrePOD)“ as beneficiaries of the program, became an important guests at the European celebration.
The ceremony of celebration of cooperation took place on September 23, 2021 in Ivano-Frankivsk at the restaurant “Fabbrica” at Virmenska str., 1.
The respectable and extraordinary guests of the ceremony was a delegation of representatives of the Regional Office for Cross-border cooperation Suceava Romania – Ukraine (Suceava, Romania).
A number of reports of the participants were presented at the celebration.
Head of the PrePOD project, Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Professor, Doctor of Biological Sciences Volodymyr Lushchak presented a brilliant report in which he shared the achievements and results of our project at the moment, and the expected achievements in the long term, spoke about the problems and ways to overcome them.
In particular, the professor spoke about the activities that have already been carried out within the framework of the project: trainings for teachers, researchers, students, scientists and university staff and other specialists involved in this project from both countries, trainings for primary healthcare workers from target regions, screenings of the population and their results, and plans by the end of the year. Moreover, he stressed the importance of continuing international cooperation, despite the difficultness of implementing joint cross-border Ukrainian-Romanian activities in the context of the pandemic and quarantine restrictions, and spoke about the steps taken to cope with the restrictions and keep the project afloat.
As a conclusion, it was noted that the results of our project will continue to benefit the population of our region in the future. Our Romanian colleagues have once again demonstrated their reliable support, and therefore our project will continue after the end of its implementation by expanding the project to other locations and increasing the number of testing parameters, as well as further expanding of cooperation between universities in Romania and Ukraine.
