In August 2021, the mobile clinic “Health on the Wheels” began its work, which performs a FREE screening of adults and children in the population of the Ivano-Frankivsk region to identify people with prediabetes and/or undiagnosed diabetes/overweight/obesity. The first participants of the community screenings were the teachers of the Burshtyn lyceum number 3.
To assess the presence or probable risks of developing the diseases, researchers of the project “Personalized prevention tools in obesity and diabetes – a joint Romanian-Ukrainian programme of health education (PrePOD)” had measured several parameters, in particular: body weight, height, waist circumference, the thickness of skin folds, total percentage of adipose tissue and percentage of visceral adipose tissue in the body, fasting capillary blood glucose level, arterial pressure level, pulse rate, and body temperature.
During August-September this year, scientists and doctors plan to examine about 400 people in the settlements of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The main centers where you can participate in screening will be the town of Burshtyn, v. Piylo, v. Tysmenychany, and v. Stetseva.
