During January-February 2022, researchers of the cross-border project “Personalized prevention tools in obesity and diabetes (PrePOD)” Oleksandra Abrat, Tetiana Mykytyn, Ivan Tverdokhlib, together with the program coordinator Volodymyr Lushchak, have visited more than 20 medical institutions in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The purpose of the visits was to disseminate methodological materials on healthy nutrition of children, adolescents, and adults, as well as a survey of primary health care providers to improve their counseling of patients at high risk of developing obesity and diabetes mellitus based on the knowledge gained in the project.
As the project staff managed to find out during the working visits, the participants of the seminar and their colleagues, based on the experience gained in the PrePOD grant program, during the period from May 2021 to February 2022 have consulted about 15,000 people of different age groups.
Printed materials received as a gift from the PrePOD program will help healthcare workers as practical support in their recommendations to patients on healthy eating and will help to prevent the spread of non-communicable diseases and the development of their complications.
