Within the framework of grant activity 3.7. “Cross-border visits” on December 13-15, 2021, a Ukrainian team consisting of Volodymyr Lushchak, Halyna Semchyshyn, Oleksandra Abrat, Tetyana Mykytyn and Ivan Tverdokhlib visited the Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava (Romania). During the working visit, Ukrainian scientists had the opportunity to meet and discuss the results of the project activities with both Romanian partners and representatives of the Joint Technical Secretariat Suceava Regional Bureau for Cross-Border Cooperation (BRCT).
The first meeting with the participation of both teams took place in the Senate hall. At this meeting the coordinators offline presented the participants of their teams (previously the communication was performed in the format of online meetings). After the “Opening session”, which was attended by the professor dr. Mihai Covașă (University of Suceava), Ivan Tverdokhlib (researcher at the Precarpathian University) has presented the results received by the Ukrainian team during 18 months of project implementation. Then the participants of both teams took part in the discussion of the project activities and their implementation.
The second meeting was held in the format of a seminar, by the professor Volodymyr Lushchak, where he has presented the report on the topic: “Age-related decline of efficiency of energy-producing and defense systems in mouse brain is partially prevented by intermittent fasting.” In addition to the project participants and BRCT staff, scientists from the Departments of Biochemistry and Nutrition of the University of Suceava joined the seminar.
Another topic of the cross-border visit was the “monthly project meeting”. Current activities, future plans and changes in the implementation program of other activities were discussed at this meeting.
After the official part of the meeting, scientists of the Precarpathian University had the opportunity to get acknowledged with the specifics of operation of the departments of the Faculty of Biomedicine of the University of Stefan cel Mare. It should be noted that the staff of the University of Suceava has organized for the colleagues from Ukraine very intensive tour in the laboratories, offices and the campus as well as the presentation of the latest available operating equipment in a molecular biochemistry, genetics and rehabilitation areas. During the tour, scientists from both universities have shared their experiences and discussed prospects for cooperation.
It is further expected to deepen and expand the cross-border cooperation between scientists and researchers from universities in both countries, as well as the implementation of planned visits of Romanian partners in the framework of this project.
